Kiwifruitz was awarded as the winner in the Manufacturing and Distribution category at the Westpac Tauranga Business Awards in November. These business awards use independent judges and a process of objective scoring to benchmark against international best practice and recognises businesses who meet the standards of being world class. The Judges provided Kiwifruitz with the following feedback: This company has some of the best processes and systems they have seen, dealing with what many in the industry see as waste. They are constantly looking at ways of getting 100% usage of the source product. Kiwifruitz has a strong planning processes in place from demand prediction, marketing and production. KPI measurement is a live process during production and both management and team had a very good feel for the efficiency of any production run at any time. They have a good governance structure which sets them out from some other companies.
This award is validation of a focused effort by the business to develop sound structures and robust business processes.
Kiwifruit Processing Company is pleased to announce the opening of their new facility in Tauranga. It recognises the growth over the past 10 years for the company but has also become a necessity in meeting the ever changing food industry compliance and customer needs on the global stage. The development allows Kiwifruit Processing Company to operate in a world class facility and now has the ability to show case itself to international clients. Whilst general processes are not changing, some new equipment has been added to increase efficiency and enhance the overall operation. The building and fit-out has been completed by local companies. Built from Polypanels, the design allows red line access, dry and wet processing rooms, and improved product process flows.There are some exciting opportunities in the forms of extracts from seed, skin and powder. These are high value products and the new facility now gives us capability to invest time and energy in bringing these value added products to fruition. The company is also examining new varieties of kiwifruit and has recently trialed this in the facility.
Kiwifruit Processing Company Ltd recognises the pressures that manufacturing companies place on the environment today. As part of our social and environmental responsibilities, the company is extending its tree planting program locally. The company will continue to plant trees not only on the family farms, but will now extend those plantings to local community Parks and Schools. At least two ornamentals or wood harvest species are planted for each container equivalent of product for export. Kiwifruit Processing also supports and donates to local community foundations.

The Kiwifruit Processing Company is the proud recipient of the Emerging Exporter of The Year Award, Bay of Plenty, for 2006. The award was presented at the Bay of Plenty Export Awards Gala Dinner on Friday 19th May.
This award recognises the excellence in growing exports within the region and is the combination of business excellence and company vision. Key aspects of the award included the way the company had developed its business plan, the detailed attention to developing sustainable production and quality systems, and the application to market development and customer needs.
