Kiwifruitz Konnection: Operating under Covid-19 protocols

Kia Ora and Hello,

Welcome to my second update from Kiwifruitz. In this update I’d like to brief you further on our production status, as well as how we are operating with the heightened Covid-19 environment.

You will always get a safe, quality product

As you know, Kiwifruitz already operates under very strict hygiene protocols – and this always ensures that you get a safe, quality product. Operating under the current Covid-19 environment means we do have to implement extra measures such as social distancing in the workplace, a more careful handling of inwards goods from offsite, to name just a few.

New Food Safety Protocols

We can assure you we have implemented a very intensive program of new protocols that are now well-embedded into our current Food Safety and HACCP system. At all times, we have our employee safety at the forefront of everything we do. And be assured, with these protocols in place, we continue to produce a very safe product for you.

Puree on target for late April start

We are well into April and the first of our coolstores are full with Green Kiwifruit. This is now being conditioned and we remain on target, with a start date of late April for the first of our puree production. We are not going to collect any Gold Kiwifruit until May – when we are more certain of a better gold colour. May will also see the first collections of both organic Gold and Green Kiwifruit.

Seed production in mid-May

From an industry season perspective, picking and packing continues with the main pack about to start. This will see us increase the frequency of bin receipts at our site. The first production of seed for 2020 will occur mid-May at the earliest.

Kiwifruitz Konnection: Join me for a tour

In my next update, I’ll take you outside to the main operations for a quick view of the fruit in the coolstores and, if we’re in production, a quick view of those operations.

Please email me or call if you have any questions. In the meantime, stay safe, stay well. I’ll talk to you again soon.

Thank you

Grant
